Tickets remain available for the Speedway Horizon League Men's Basketball Championship game Tuesday night that will feature Butler and Wright State at historic Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Butler senior Melanie Thornton has been named Player of the Year, which highlights the Horizon League's 2009-10 Women's Basketball All-League Teams and specialty award winners.

Green Bay has claimed the top seed in the 2010 Speedway Horizon League Women's Basketball Championship for the 11th time in the past 12 seasons. The winner of the League's 10-team tournament earns an automatic berth into the 64-team NCAA Women's Basketball Championship.

For the second time in two seasons, Wright State has knocked off the nation's top collegiate baseball team. The Raiders posted a 2-1 victory over the Virginia on Friday in front of 1,740 at Davenport Field.

HORIZON LEAGUE TEAM NOTES

When the 2010 Speedway Horizon League Men’s Basketball Championship begins with four first-round games on Tuesday night, fans can follow action like never before with the newly-enhanced Horizon League Mobile app.

The Rambler Rowdies of Loyola University Chicago have been awarded the Horizon League’s first ever No. 1 Student Section trophy.  The honor was given to Loyola after all 10 conference student sections were evaluated for their performance during the Horizon League Network (HLN) Student Section Challenge Tour.

UIC senior Sebastian Lystad and Cleveland State sophomore Catrine Bjerrehus have been name Horizon League Tennis Players of the Week for the period of Feb. 22-28.

Milwaukee junior forward Anthony Hill has been named the Horizon League Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 28.
