Begel picked up Pitcher of the Week honors after holding Butler to just four hits and one earned run in eight innings of work on Thursday. The junior struck out four Bulldogs, while walking just two, while limiting the Butler lineup to a .143 batting average.
Spencer Mahoney Valparaiso Baseball
Hometown: LaGrange Park, Ill.
Mahoney picked up Batter of the Week accolades after batting .692 for the Crusaders in their sweep of YSU. He opened the series with a 2-for-4 showing, batting in two runs, in the Crusaders 8-3 victory. On Friday night, he was 4-for-5 with a double and another RBI in Valpo’s 8-7 victory. On Saturday, he was 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and one RBI.
