If anyone says they know what will happen in the final two weeks of the Horizon League men’s basketball regular season, they’re lying. Saturday proved to be another topsy-turvy day, with the teams at the top of the standings both falling.

Detroit, Valparaiso and UIC used big second half runs on Saturday to win in women’s basketball.
Detroit trailed on the road at Milwaukee by four at halftime, but outscored the Panthers 38-20 in the second half to get the win. Valparaiso was down one at Butler at halftime, but the Crusaders scored the first 10 points of the second half and never looked back in collecting the win, while UIC outscored Cleveland State by 15 in the second half to break open what was a close game throughout the first half.

Upheaval was the name of the game on Thursday evening, with the teams sitting in first and third place in the Horizon League knocked off their perches. Whether that continues on the League ladder this weekend remains to be seen, but with just two games separating the teams in third and eighth, chaos is bubbling just under the surface.

The Detroit women’s basketball team walked into the Kress Events Center in Green Bay on Thursday night and handed the ninth-ranked Phoenix their first loss of the season as the Titans and Wright State, currently tied for second place, both gained a game on first place Green Bay in the conference standings.

INDIANAPOLIS – Wright State is the favorite to win the 2012 Horizon League Baseball Championship in balloting by the conference’s six head coaches. The Raiders received 25 points and five first-place votes.

INDIANAPOLIS -- The defending Horizon League Tournament champions, UIC has been voted the favorite to repeat, receiving six of nine first-place votes and 60 points in voting of the League’s head coaches.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Valparaiso junior Chris Baum (Charlotte, N.C.) has been named Horizon League Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week, while UIC sophomore Jana Knoppe (Ihringen, Germany) has earned Horizon League Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week honors, for the week of Jan. 30-Feb. 5.
