KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Seven Horizon League women's soccer programs were recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) with the organization's Team Academic Award.

If it's going to be like this all season, coaches, players and fans in the Horizon League are going to need some anti-anxiety pills. Three of the four games to open Horizon League conference play came down to the final possession, with Youngstown State, Cleveland State and Green Bay all winning in the final second. Milwaukee was the lone team to win comfortably, defending its home court.

INDIANAPOLIS -- With Horizon League championships in both men’s and women’s cross country, Butler University took the top spot in the McCafferty Trophy standings after the fall sports season.

Cleveland State captured the Ticket City Legends Classic subregional, while Butler took second in the Hoosier Invitational on Sunday.

Loyola opened a renovated Gentile Arena in grand fashion, while Youngstown State and Milwaukee had to sweat for wins that bookended Horizon League play on Saturday.

Cleveland State proved to be the lone victor in the Horizon League on Friday, stealing a win in the opener of the Legends Classic subregional. Both Valparaiso and Green Bay fell on the road in televised contests.

Cleveland State, UIC and Youngstown State got their holiday weekends off to good starts as all three teams were victorious on Friday night.

Cleveland State continued to build on its strong start to the season, while Detroit stumbled for the second straight night.
