Two Horizon League student-athletes were named Cleveland Golf/Srixon Scholar All-Americans by the Golf Coaches Association of America.  Cleveland State senior Kent Monas and Detroit senior Jeff Clarridge were honored with only 138 other Division I recipients.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Two Horizon League head coaches will be among the 14 individuals inducted into the first class of the River Falls High School Hall of Fame. Butler baseball head coach Steve Farley and Cleveland State women's basketball head coach Kate Peterson Abiad both starred for the Wildcats before finding success on the collegiate stage.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Butler men’s basketball standout Matt Howard (Connersville, Ind./Connersville) and women’s basketball star Kayla Tetschlag (Sheboygan, Wis./North) of Green Bay have been named the recipients of the Horizon League’s 2010-11 Cecil N. Coleman Medal of Honor. Howard was the unanimous choice on the men’s ballot, while Tetschlag appeared on every women’s ballot cast.

2011 Horizon League Player of the Year Norris Cole was selected 28th overall in the 2011 NBA Draft, while Preseason Player of the Year Shelvin Mack was tabbed in the second round, 34th overall. Cole was picked by the Chicago Bulls, with his signing rights heading to Minnesota as part of a prearranged trade. Mack was picked up by the Washington Wizards. After acquiring Cole, Minnesota then sent Cole's rights to Miami.

INDIANAPOLIS – On the strength of six Horizon League postseason championships, Butler University has won the James J. McCafferty Trophy as the Horizon League’s all-sports champion for the second straight year and the eighth time overall. For the Bulldogs, their eighth title snaps a tie with former League members Notre Dame and Oral Roberts.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Cleveland State’s Rob Fox is the Male Scholar-Athlete of the month and Youngstown State’s Alisha Anthony is the Women’s Scholar-Athlete for the month of April.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Twenty Horizon League teams from the 2009-2010 academic year were honored Tuesday by the NCAA for achieving multi-year academic performance rates (APR) in the top 10 percent of their NCAA Division I peers.

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Appearing in the NCAA Championship for the fourth straight year, the Cleveland State men's tennis team had its season come to a close with a 4-0 setback at 10th-ranked Kentucky on Friday afternoon at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex in a first round match.

CHICAGO -- UIC and Butler will play for the 2011 Horizon League Softball Championship title on Saturday, after Cleveland State and Valparaiso were eliminated on day three of the tournament.  UIC enters the matchup needing one win to claim the Horizon League's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, while Butler will need to knock off the Flames twice.

CHICAGO -- UIC and Butler advanced to the second round of the Horizon League Softball Championship, while Cleveland State stayed alive after knocking off Wright State, 4-2, in the afternoon's elimination game.
