The Cleveland State men’s and women’s swim teams are in the lead after two days of the 2013 Horizon League Swimming and Diving Championships at UIC’s Flames Natatorium.

The Milwaukee men’s swimming and diving team and the Cleveland State women’s swimming and diving teams hold small leads after the first day at the 2013 Horizon League Swimming and Diving Championships at Flames Natatorium in Chicago, Ill.

INDIANAPOLIS -- UIC senior Alex Grunenwald and Youngstown State senior Robert Switka have been named Horizon League Baseball Players of the Week for the period of Feb. 18-24.

The Horizon League Men’s Basketball Tournament will return to Valparaiso, Ind., after Valparaiso locked up the No. 1 seed with a come-from-behind win over Youngstown State on Tuesday night. Detroit also clinched a double-bye, using a buzzer-beater to get past Loyola. Meanwhile, Green Bay and UIC both improved their seeding possibilities with home wins.

With a win tonight over visiting Youngstown State, Valparaiso would clinch at least a share of the regular season men's basketball title and, because the Crusaders own all tiebreaker scenarios, would also clinch hosting rights for the Horizon League tournament.

INDIANAPOLIS -- UIC center Katie Hannemann and Green Bay’s Megan Lukan have been named the Horizon League women’s basketball Co-Players of the Week, while Loyola guard Taylor Johnson has been named the Newcomer of the Week.

The Loyola Ramblers men's and women's teams swept the 2013 Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Championships this weekend, garnering head coach Randy Hasenbank Coach of the Year honors. The Ramblers scored 190 points to take the men's title, followed by Milwaukee (140) and Youngstown State (78). On the women's side, Loyola scored 157.5 points to take the title over Milwaukee (119.5) and Youngstown State (112).

Green Bay clinched at least a share of the regular season championship with their win over Valparaiso in the afternoon, and later clinched the No. 1 seed in the Horizon League Women’s Basketball Tournament when UIC defeated Detroit, 76-74, in the evening.

Several facility and meet records were broken on Saturday on the first day of the Horizon League indoor track and field championships at the Watson and Tressell Training Site on the campus of Youngstown State University. In all, six Horizon League records fell and seven new WATTS records were set, including four student-athletes who broke both marks.

In the final iteration of the Ramada BracketBusters, Valparaiso took a win on national television, while Milwaukee, Youngstown State and Cleveland State all collected non-conference victories.
