INDIANAPOLIS – Cleveland State’s Sara Skeens put up 3.75 kills per set this weekend to lead the Vikings to a perfect weekend to stay atop the Horizon League volleyball standings. Skeens is the Nike® Offensive Player of the Week. Green Bay’s Vanessa Buman put up 52 digs in two road wins to earn Nike® Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Sara Skeens averaged a team-best 3.75 kills per set on the weekend, posting 30 total kills against NKU and WSU. The junior recorded a season-high 18 kills against Northern Kentucky and followed that up with 12 against Wright State as part of a Viking offense that averaged 13.38 kills per set on a .241 hitting percentage in a pair of wins last weekend. For the season, she leads the Vikings averaging 3.09 kills per set. The Ohio native helped Cleveland State pick up two wins last weekend to remain perfect in #HLVB play this season - including one against NKU when the two teams were tied for first place.

Green Bay was unbeaten this weekend in matches against Milwaukee and UIC, and the Phoenix defense was led by Buman both times. She was the match leader in digs both days, scooping up 27 digs versus the Panthers and 25 digs versus the Flames. The libero has averaged 5 digs per set so far this season as well as 5.88 per set in league play, both statistics marking her as the third in the conference.
