Nike #HLVB Players of the Week (October 21)
INDIANAPOLIS – Oakland’s Jamie Walling and Milwaukee’s Jess Grabowski are this week’s #HLVB award winners following 2-0 records in League play for both teams. Oakland junior Jamie Walling averaged 4.50 kills per set and hit .354 to help the Golden Grizzlies to earn their fourth and fifth straight victories to move into a third-place tie in the standings. Walling is the Nike® Offensive Player of the Week for the first time this season. Milwaukee sophomore Jess Grabowski posted 6.71 digs per set to lead the Panthers defensively as MKE sits at 7-1 atop the League standings. Grabowski is the Nike® Defensive Player of the Week for the second week this season.

Walling averaged 4.50 kills per set and hit .354 this weekend in a pair of road wins over Cleveland State and Youngstown State. On Oct. 19, she registered 22 kills as Oakland team extended its win streak to four on with a 3-2 win over Cleveland State. It was her fifth 20-plus kill match of the season. On Oct. 20, Walling recorded 14 kills with a .464 hitting percentage as the Golden Grizzlies made it five wins in a row with a sweep at YSU.

Grabowski led the Milwaukee defense in a pair of Horizon League victories over the weekend. The sophomore totaled 47 digs, averaging 6.71 per set. In a 3-1 win over Wright State, Grabowski recorded a career-high 35 digs to lead the Panthers, who totaled 90 in the four set victory. Additionally, Grabowski had just one reception error with a .958 percentage. The Greendale, Wis. native also tallied two assists and two aces as Milwaukee moved to 20-2 overall and took over first place in the Horizon League at 7-1.
