Nike® #HLVB Players of the Week (October 7)

INDIANAPOLIS – Milwaukee’s Ari Miller and Wright State’s Jenna Story are this week’s Nike #HLVB award winners as both teams extended their win streaks and improved to 4-0 in League play. Panther freshman Miller averaged 3.5 kills per set, while hitting .453 as MKE extended its win streak to 14 matches with victories at Cleveland State and Youngstown State to earn a second Nike® Offensive Player of the Week honor. WSU sophomore libero Story picks up her fourth Nike® Defensive Player of the Week award after posting 6.6 digs per set as the Raiders extended their winning streak to 15 matches, the longest in the nation, defeating Northern Kentucky and IUPUI.

Miller continued to lead the Milwaukee offense, totaling a team-high 28 kills in two matches. The freshman averaged 3.5 kills per set and hit .453 in victories over Cleveland State and Youngstown State. In a 3-2 victory over the Vikings, Miller put away 16 kills and then followed that with 12 in a sweep of the Penguins where she hit .611. Additionally, Miller totaled four blocks, helping Milwaukee stay perfect in Horizon League play. Miller’s has played a large role in helping Milwaukee to a 17-1 overall record, winning 14 straight contests.

Wright State extended its win streak to 15, which is currently the nation's longest, and picked up two more conference wins putting them at 4-0 in Horizon League play. Jenna Story was an instrumental part of the Raider's success this weekend. In a five set win over NKU, she dug 33 balls and added 2 kills. In a three set win over IUPUI, Story led the match for both teams amassing 20 digs. On the weekend she averaged 6.6 digs per set and racked up 10 assists. The NKU match was her fourth match this season that she had 32 digs or more. Jenna has maintained the lead in the Horizon League in total digs and digs per set. On a national level, she is second in the NCAA for digs per set.
