GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Heading into Sunday's series finale against Detroit, the Green Bay softball team (15-25, 8-12 HL) needed a win over the Titans and a Valparaiso victory over Youngstown State in order to qualify for the 2013 Horizon League Tournament. The Phoenix held up its end of the deal with a 5-0 shutout over Detroit (5-45, 2-19 HL), but Youngstown State snuck into the final playoff spot with a 3-2 win over the Crusaders in 11 innings. The Youngstown State win ends the season for the Phoenix, which finished just a half-game back of the Penguins in the final 2013 Horizon League standings.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay softball team might have had to wait until May 4th, but the squad can now drop the title of being the only Division I softball team in the country without a contest played on its home diamond. The Phoenix took both games in walk-off fashion against Detroit in Saturday's doubleheader, improving to 14-25 overall and 7-12 in league play while keeping its playoff hopes alive.

CLEVELAND, Ohio. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Acting as the home team in a make-up doubleheader at Cleveland State, the Green Bay softball team (12-22, 5-9 HL) split with the Vikings after a 7-3 victory in game two. The two-game stint was played in place of a postponed three-game home series originally slated to be played in Green Bay earlier this month.

Freshman Katie Pokrandt (Eau Claire, Wis.) led the way for the Phoenix, finishing the 36-hole tournament in third place.

Both teams earned a come-from-behind victory on Sunday afternoon as Green Bay (11-21, 4-8 HL) and Youngstown State (13-20, 7-8 HL) split a pair of one-run contests in a Horizon League doubleheader at McCune Park. The Phoenix used a late, two-run home run from freshman Marissa Michalkiewicz (Appleton, Wis.) to beat YSU 2-1 in the opener, but the Penguins bounced back by scoring four runs in the final two innings of game two to win 7-6.

The Green Bay softball team rallied with a pair of late-inning runs, but could not overcome a 4-0 deficit as the visiting Phoenix (10-20, 3-7 HL) fell 4-2 at Youngstown State (12-19, 6-7 HL) Saturday afternoon at McCune Park.

The Green Bay women's tennis team's 2012-13 season came to a close on Friday evening, as the Phoenix fell 7-0 to Detroit at the Franklin Athletic Club in Southfield, Mich. Green Bay finished the year 1-21 overall and 1-6 in Horizon League play, while the Titans improved to 10-5 overall and 4-2 in conference action with the win.

Paced by sophomore Tom Boockmeier's (Green Bay, Wis.) first-place finish, the Green Bay men's golf team won the rain-shortened Butler Spring Invitational on Thursday at Prestwick Country Club. The Phoenix posted an opening-round score of 296 – 10 shots ahead of second-place IUPUI (306) – but heavy rains overnight made the course unplayable for Friday's final round.

MADISON, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Earlier this season, the Green Bay softball team stunned perennial power Notre Dame in a road win. The Phoenix (10-19, 3-6 HL) can now add #rv Wisconsin (30-9) to the list of BCS powers its defeated this season after a 2-1 victory over the Badgers in the first game of a doubleheader on Tuesday. The Badgers then used a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning to win game two 4-3.
