HORIZON LEAGUE TEAM NOTES

INDIANAPOLIS - Cleveland State senior Phil Orno and Butler senior Molly Casperson have been name Horizon League Tennis Players of the Week for the period of Feb. 8-14.

Green Bay junior Celeste Hoewisch has been named Horizon League Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the period of Feb. 8-14. The selection marks Hoewisch's first career weekly honor from the League office.

Valparaiso sophomore Kelsey Phalen has been named the Horizon League Softball Player of the Week, while sophomore teammate Shaleigh Jansen has earned Pitcher of the Week honors for the week ending Feb. 14.

Butler sophomore guard/forward Gordon Hayward has been named the Horizon League Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 14. The weekly honor was Hayward's second of the season.

The 2010 Horizon League softball season started off on the right track Friday with UIC posted a 2-0 record on the first day of collegiate action. 

Tickets are now on sale for the 2010 Speedway Horizon League Men's Basketball Championship second-round and semifinal games at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind.

Tracy Woodson is no novice when it comes to working in college athletics. A Division I head baseball coach is a feat in itself, but unlike most other head coaches, Woodson is also a Division I men's basketball official.

Cleveland State sophomore Yannick Goossens and junior Sanda Bjelan have been named Horizon League Tennis Players of the Week for the period of Feb. 1-7.
