Cleveland State Secures Top Seed as Six-Team Field is Set for #HLVB Championships

Cleveland State (13-3) has earned the title of 2017 Horizon League Volleyball Regular Season Champions. With that title, the Vikings will host the Championships (Nov. 17-19) and have a first-round bye as the tournament’s number one seed. CSU has won ten straight matches and will face the lowest remaining seed out of the quarterfinals on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 3 p.m. ET.

Oakland (12-4) secured the number two seed in the tournament and will also have an extra day before opening tournament play. The Golden Grizzlies will face the highest remaining seed after the quarterfinals on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 6 p.m. ET.

League newcomer IUPUI (12-4) had a strong inaugural season, earning the number three seed. The Jags will face number six seed Northern Kentucky (7-9) in the quarterfinals on Friday, Nov. 17 at 3 p.m. ET. The Norse were bested by IUPUI in both regular season matchups (3-1, 3-1).

Green Bay (9-7) won its final match of the regular season to claim the number four seed. The Phoenix will take on UIC (8-8) in the second quarterfinal on Friday, Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. ET. The Flames and the Phoenix split their two regular season contests.

The two semifinal winners will battle for an NCAA Tournament bid in the championship match on Sunday, Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. ET. All matches of the championship will be streamed live on ESPN3. Visit tournament central for more, including the tournament bracket and hotel information.
