PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kendrick Nunn | Oakland | RS-Sr. | Guard | Chicago, Ill.
In his Oakland debut, Nunn scored a game-high 36 points on 11-of-21 shooting as the Golden Grizzlies topped Fort Wayne, 85-71, on Friday. He connected on five of 11 attempts from beyond the arc while collecting six rebounds and dishing out six assists. After averaging nearly 30 points per game in exhibition play, Nunn became the first Golden Grizzly to score more than 30 points in a game since December 2016. Nunn transferred to Oakland in June 2016 after playing three seasons at Illinois where he was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team in 2013 and averaged 15.5 points per game as a junior in 2015-16.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Everett Winchester | Wright State | RS-Fr. | Guard/Forward | Baltimore, Md.
Winchester played the third-most minutes of any Wright State player on Friday, netting 31 minutes of action off the bench in the Raiders’ narrow, 84-80 setback at Loyola. He was one of eight players to score in double figures in the contest, finishing with 15 points on 4-of-8 marksmanship, including 70-percent shooting from the foul line (7-of-10). Winchester’s seven made free throws matched Loyola’s Cameron Krutwig for the game-high mark.
