INDIANAPOLIS — In the lone Horizon League men’s basketball contest on Thursday, host UIC discarded Delaware State in convincing, 99-55 fashion. The Flames outshot their opponent, 55 percent to 29 percent, while connecting on 12 of their 28 attempts (43 percent) from 3-point range. Four UIC players scored in double figures, including sophomore guard and Chicago native, Dominique Matthews, who tallied a game-high 19 points.

(Courtesy of UICFlames.com) — CHICAGO -- UIC posted its largest margin of victory in the Steve McClain era by demolishing Delaware State Thursday night, 95-55. The Flames (2-1) buried a season-high 12 3-pointers and shot a season-best 54.5 percent from the field to best the Hornets (1-3). UIC’s Dominique Matthews scored a game-high 19 points with four 3-pointers, while Dikembe Dixson was in double figures for the second consecutive game with 16 points. The Flames return to the UIC Pavilion Saturday at 3 p.m. to host Fort Wayne.
