INDIANAPOLIS — After leading their respective clubs to unbeaten weeks, Detroit Mercy’s Kameron Chatman and Wright State’s Everett Winchester have been tabbed Horizon League men’s basketball Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week, respectively.

Redshirt-junior Kameron Chatman had a strong week in helping the Titans (4-2) go 2-0, including a road victory at Saint Louis (72-70) and a 62-point triumph at home over Siena Heights (131-69). Chatman averaged 20.5 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and 2.5 steals, while shooting 60 percent (18-of-30) from the field and 42.8 percent (3-of-7) from beyond the arc. He started the week with 18 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and two steals at Saint Louis, where he provided the game-winning jumper with less than a second left in regulation. Against Siena Heights, he tied his career high with 23 points (10-15 FG, 3-5 3FG) and grabbed another nine boards, just missing a double-double in both games. Chatman ranks second in scoring (17.8 per game) for the Titans and leads the team in rebounding (8.7 per game).

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

Winchester averaged 9.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in the four-win week for the Raiders (4-3). Each of Wright State’s wins came at home as the Raiders opened with a victory over Tiffin (73-49) on Monday before going 3-0 in the Wright State Tournament over the weekend where they knocked off Gardner-Webb (67-47), Jacksonville (68-44), and Fairfield (57-56). In addition to averaging nearly 10 points and five rebounds, Winchester added five assists as he shot 53 percent from the field (13-of-25) and 75 percent from the foul line (12-of-16). Winchester, who ranks third for Wright State in scoring (10.3 per game) and rebounding (4.6 per game), played at least 23 minutes in each contest last week.
