(Dec. 19, 2017) — Northern Kentucky took No. 8 Texas A&M to the wire on Tuesday, but fell short — 64-58 — to cap a similarly-themed day for Horizon League men’s basketball. The league’s five competitors each suffered setbacks, with four of the contests being decided by single digits, including UIC’s one-point loss at Illinois State and Cleveland State’s two-point setback at Niagara. Detroit Mercy’s Kameron Chatman (20 points) and UIC’s Marcus Ottey (23 points) were the league’s high scorers on the day.

Titans come up short against ETSU
(Courtesy of DetroitTitans.com) — DETROIT — Ten Titans registered points on the night with three in double figures, but a second-half run by East Tennessee State University saw the University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team fall, 81-73, on Tuesday night in Calihan Hall. Redshirt junior Kameron Chatman led the way with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore Corey Allenhad 14 points and sophomore Cole Long tallied a career-high 10 points and four assists with three rebounds.

Hairston scores career-high 17 points in 79-77 setback at Niagara
(Courtesy of CSUVikings.com) — NIAGARA, N.Y. — Jamarcus Hairston scored a career-high 17 points and Cleveland State rallied from a late 11-point deficit, but fell to Niagara, 79-77, on Tuesday night at the Gallagher Center. CSU fell to 3-7 in its fourth one possession game of the year, while Niagara improved to 6-6. Hairston hit 7-of-9 from the field, bettering his old career-high of 13 points, while also adding five rebounds.

No. 8 Texas A&M hangs on to defeat @NKUNorseMBB, 64-58
(Courtesy of NKUNorse.com) — COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The Northern Kentucky men's basketball team fell at No. 8 Texas A&M on Tuesday evening by a final score of 64-58. With the loss, NKU is now 7-5 on the season, while the Aggies improved to 10-1. Drew McDonald had a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Jordan Garnett scored 15 points, including 13 in the second half. Lavone Holland II added 12 points, six rebounds, and seven assists.

Flames fall late at Illinois State, 71-70
(Courtesy of UICFlames.com) — NORMAL, Ill. — UIC shot 49 percent from the field on the road Tuesday night, and 54 percent in the second halfbut the Flames were hampered by 20 turnovers in a one-point loss at Illinois State, falling 71-70. Marcus Ottey scored a game-high 23 points off the bench for UIC (4-7), while Dikembe Dixsonscored 19 for the second contest in a row. Jordan Blount had a career-high 11 rebounds and four assists to lead the Flames.

Raiders comeback falls short
(Courtesy of WSURaiders.com) — SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Wright State men's basketball team fell Tuesday night at Missouri Valley Conference favorite Missouri State 66-50 after cutting the lead to just five with under eight minutes remaining. The Raiders end the non-conference portion of the schedule with a game at Georgia Tech Friday night at 9 pm.  WSU starts league play by hosting UIC December 28.
