(Jan. 26, 2018) — League-leading Wright State convincingly downed visiting Detroit Mercy, 87-55, on Friday night, while Oakland earned its fifth-straight victory with an 83-70 road win at Northern Kentucky. Five Wright State players scored in double figures in the Raiders’ win, paced by senior Grant Benzinger’s 17 points (6-10 FG, 4-6 3FG). Meanwhile, Oakland’s Kendrick Nunn — who entered the night as the nation’s second leading scorer — notched his third-consecutive 30-plus-point game, scoring a game-high 33 points on 11-of-22 shooting, including 6-of-13 marksmanship from 3-point range.

DAYTON, Ohio — A great combination of offense and defense allowed the Wright State men's basketball team to bounce back after a loss last weekend to defeat Detroit Mercy at home 87-55 behind five Raiders in double figures. Senior Grant Benzinger led the way, scoring all of his 17 points in the first half as he connected on four threes. Everett Winchestercame off the bench to score 15 points to equal fellow freshman Loudon Love's offensive output. Cole Gentry finished with 12 points, and Jaylon Hall had 10 points.

Winning streak extends to five as Oakland takes down NKU, 83-70

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. — Kendrick Nunn scored 33 points, his third-straight 30-point performance and ninth of the season, as the Oakland men's basketball team defeated first-place Northern Kentucky on the road 83-70 Friday night at BB&T Arena. The win gave Oakland its fifth consecutive win and fourth over the Norse in the last five matchups. It also gives the Black and Gold a perfect 3-0 record at BB&T Arena. The Golden Grizzlies have not lost a road game at NKU since 1981. Jalen Hayes scored 21 points, 16 of which came in the second half, and grabbed seven rebounds. Martez Walker added 11 points and two steals.
