#HLMBB NEWS & NOTES
• Milwaukee earned a 69-66 victory on the road at UMKC last week as the Panthers scored 12-straight points to end the game to complete the comeback and claim their first road win of the season.
• IUPUI has won six of its last seven games after earning a convincing 82-68 victory over Western Illinois on Saturday led by Camron Justice with 20 points and seven assists, while Ahmed Ismail collected 17 points and nine rebounds.
• UIC’s Marcus Ottey became the 24th player in program history and the 172nd Horizon League player in 40 years of competition to reach the 1,000 point mark.
• Northern Kentucky and IUPUI are both receiving votes in the College Insider Mid-Major top-25 poll.
• Detroit Mercy’s Antoine Davis is second in the country in scoring at 26.6 points per game as he leads all of Division I with 57 total 3-pointers and 5.2 triples per contest. Oakland’s Xavier Hill-Mais is also top-20 in the country in scoring at 22.9 points. Davis and Hill-Mais are ranked No. 3 and 4, respectively, in total field-goals made in the country.
• Youngstown State’s Naz Bohannon has been a beast on the boards this season as he has grabbed 9.8 rebounds per game, including ranking second in the NCAA in offensive rebounds per game with 4.42.
• Wright State’s Loudon Love and Northern Kentucky’s Drew McDonald were selected to the 2018-19 Lou Henson Award Watch List, presented annually to the nation's top mid-major player in Division I College Basketball. Love and McDonald are tied atop the HL with five double-doubles, while McDonald is one of only 10 active players to record 1,500 points and 600 rebounds.
• In addition, McDonald has been selected to the Naismith Hall of Fame's Karl Malone Award Watch List, presented to the nation's top power-forward and one of 30 of candidates for the Senior CLASS Award, given to a student-athlete in their final year of eligibility that has notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition. Among active Division I players, he ranks eighth in double-doubles, 10th in rebounds and 17th in points.
• #HLMBB have been prolific from long range this season as nine out of 10 teams are ranked in the top-100 in total 3-point field goals made with Oakland pacing the HL with 121, good for ninth in the NCAA. In addition, the Golden Grizzlies are seventh in 3-point field-goal percentage at 42.3 percent to lead the HL as the League has the fifth-best conference 3-point shooting percentage at 36.1.
• Oakland has proved to be early on one of the best in the nation at holding on to the ball and also sharing it. The Golden Grizzlies are fourth in the NCAA in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.78, seventh in assists per game (19.4) and 20th in turnovers per game (10.9). Freshman Braden Norris leads Oakland and is 15th in the country with a 3.75 assist-to-turnover ratio.
