INDIANAPOLIS – With the start of #HLWBB play coming up on Friday, teams finished their non-league slates this week.
#HLWBB NEWS & NOTES
•At the conclusion of non-league play, the Horizon League ranks 15th out of 32 Division I conferences in the NCAA RPI report. Three Horizon League women’s basketball teams are in the top 100 of the rankings. Green Bay ranks 35, IUPUI is at 57, and Wright State checks in at 81. Youngstown State is the next #HLWBB team at 109.
• In this week's College Insider Women's Mid-Major Top 25 poll, Green Bay and Wright State are ranked in the top 15 and IUPUI and Youngstown State are receiving votes.
• Youngstown State’s Melinda Trimmer ranks second nationally with an assist-turnover ratio of 4.80. Trimmer leads #HLWBB with 4.4 assists per game. Teammate Alison Smolinski is 12th with 3.45 three-point field goals per game. The Penguins are 14th as a team in the category of fewest fouls, only committing 138 so far this season.
• IUPUI’s Macee Williams is 24th in the country with 85 field goals made this season. Teammate Holly Hoopingarner is 19th nationally in free-throw percentage (90.0).
• Green Bay is 30th in the NCAA in fewest turnovers as the Phoenix only committed 143 turnovers in non-league play. The Phoenix are also in the top-21 in scoring defense, allowing 54.3 points per game.
• Wright State ranks 19th nationally in total rebounds (526) and 24th in rebounds per game (43.83). The Raiders are also a top-25 team in turnovers per game (13.3).
