INDIANAPOLIS – Horizon League Women’s Basketball opened play on Friday and all five games were won by road teams.

Youngstown State 85, Detroit Mercy 59
Youngstown State began Horizon League play 1-0 after an 85-59 road victory over Detroit Mercy. Mary Dunn led the Penguins with a career-high 24 points, while Alison Smolinski added 23 points. The Titans were led by freshman Jess Bicknell’s career-high 18 points.
Wright State 78, IUPUI 75 (OT)
Wright State needed an extra five minutes to pick up a win at IUPUI on Friday to open League play with a victory. Mackenzie Taylor and Michal Miller each tallied 17 points for the Raiders and Emily Vogelpohl chipped in 15 more for WSU. Five different Jaguars posted double-figure scoring efforts, including Macee Williams’ 16-point performance.
Cleveland State 64, Oakland 62
Cleveland State opened Horizon League play with a win at Oakland on Friday, 64-62. Savanna Crockett posted another double-double for the Vikings, recording 16 points and 12 rebounds and Mariah White led CSU in scoring with 22 points. Nikita Telesford paced the Golden Grizzlies with 17 points and Taylor Jones added 15.
Northern Kentucky 67, UIC 49
Northern Kentucky picked up a 67-49 win in Chicago on Friday, defeating UIC to move to 1-0 in League play. Taylor Clos led the Norse with 14 points while Grayson Rose posted 13 total rebounds for NKU. Tylah Lampley led the Flames with 16 points and five rebounds.
Green Bay 76, Milwaukee 62
Green Bay earned a 76-62 win at rival Milwaukee on Friday night to start League play. Frankie Wurtz led the Phoenix with 18 points, while Madison Wolf added 16 for GB. Milwaukee’s Jamie Reit led all scorers with 24 points in the contest.

MOTOR CITY MADNESS
The 2019 Little Caesars Horizon League Basketball Championships will begin March 5-6 and will culminate with the semifinal and championship games on March 11-12 at Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena. The 2019 men’s and women’s championship games will take place on Tuesday, March 12 with the men playing at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN or ESPN2 and the women starting at noon ET on ESPNU. Tickets for the semifinals and championship go on-sale on February 1. Once quarterfinal games conclude on March 5 and 6, fan section information for participating teams will be announced.
