No. 7 Seed Green Bay to Face No. 10 Seed Minnesota in Oregon in NCAA Tournament First Round

GREEN BAY, Wis. (Courtesy of GreenBayPhoenix.com) – No. 22/21 Green Bay (29-3) will enter the 2018 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament as a No. 7 seed in the Spokane Region and will face No. 10 seed Minnesota (23-8) in the First Round in Eugene, Oregon, at 4 p.m. CT time (2 p.m. PT).

The First Round contest will take place on Friday, Mar. 16, at Matthew Knight Arena on the University of Oregon's campus, with the winner facing the winner of No. 2 Oregon (30-4) and No. 15 Seattle (18-14) on Sunday, Mar. 18 at a time to be announced. The Phoenix and Golden Gophers last met in 2014 in the WNIT, with Minnesota winning by a narrow 62-60 margin. Minnesota leads the all-time series by just one game, 7-6. 

Green Bay clinched the automatic berth with its Horizon League Championship victory over Wright State on Tuesday, Mar. 6. The Phoenix will be making its 18th all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament, and for the ninth time in the last 10 seasons.

In last year's NCAA Tournament, the 8th-seeded Phoenix fell to No. 9 seed Purdue 74-62 in Notre Dame, Ind., in the First Round.

The Phoenix has won seven games in a row and is ranked No. 23 in the RPI, owning impressive wins over fellow 2018 NCAA Tournament teams Marquette, Arizona State, Dayton and South Dakota State.
