CSU Men's Golf, NKU's Jacob Poore Conclude Seasons with Final Round of NCAA Columbus Regional

COLUMBUS, Ohio - (Courtesy of CSUVikings.com) The Cleveland State men's golf team concluded its season with a final round 309 at the NCAA Columbus Regional at the par-71, 7,364-yard The Scarlet Course.
CSU, competing in the NCAA regionals for the fifth straight year and the ninth time in the last 13 seasons, finished 13th with a 54-hole total of 929 (309-310-310). The Vikings qualified for NCAA regionals after winning their fifth straight Horizon League Championship in late April.
Freshman Jules Blakely concluded a strong showing at his first career regionals with a final round 76. He was CSU's top finisher, tying for 43rd place with a 227 total (75-75-77). Blakely had CSU's low round on each of the first two days.
Freshman Zak Supelak tied for 64th place with rounds of 77-78-81 (236), while junior Anton Krecic was in 66th place after rounds of 80-81-76 (237).
Senior Blake Prince shot 86-76-77 (239) to finish 68th, while senior Joey Krecic tied for 69th place at 242 (77-85-80).
Joey Krecic and Prince concluded their careers as the second and third players in school history to play in four straight NCAA regionals, joining Patrick Luth (2014-17). The trio - along with Paul Minko and Matt McAdoo - are the only players in program history to be part of four Horizon League Championship squads.
Oklahoma State won the regional title with an 844 total by eight shots over Illinois. Both squads along with UNLV (867), Northwestern (868) and Texas Tech (870) advance to the NCAA Championship by virtue of their top-five finishes. They will be joined at nationals by Michigan's Kyle Mueller who earned medalist honors with a 208 total.

Poore is NKU's first NCAA qualifier in the program's Division I era after winning the Horizon League Championship.
2nd and 3rd-Round Highlights
- Poore was forced to conclude his second round this morning as the round was suspended Tuesday afternoon due to inclement weather.
- Similar to his first round, Poore bogeyed the opening hole. He responded to level his round at even par with a birdie on No. 4
- The front nine came to close with pars on holes five, eight and nine, and bogeys on Nos. 6 and 7.
- Three more bogeys on the 10th, 13th and 14th precluded the suspension of the round. Poore resumed his round on the 15th and closed out with a 6-over 77.
- After a short break, Poore was back on the course for his third round, where the junior opened with bogeys on four of the first six holes, fighting rain showers throughout.
- He played the final 12 holes at 2-over for his second-straight 77.
- Poore finished tied for 52nd with Maryland's Peter Knade, Yale's Henry Cassriel and Jacksonville's Sam Uhland.
Notable Nuggets
- Poore was one of 31 golfers to play the par-5s under par. The junior played them at 1-under for a 4.89 stroke average.
- No. 1 Oklahoma State won the team title by eight strokes and advances to the NCAA Championship, along with No. 12 Illinois (even-par), No. 24 UNLV (plus-15), No. 35 Northwestern (plus-16) and No. 13 Texas Tech (Plus-18).
- Michigan's Kyle Mueller, the 14th-ranked player in the nation, took the individual title and also advances to the NCAA Championship.
