INDIANAPOLIS – As the #HLSD championship looms in the near distance, our teams compete for the final time in the regular season. Senior Paul Huch of Oakland and sophomore Anna Liu of Green Bay are our Swimmer and Diver of the Week. For the divers, we have senior Joe Smith of Oakland and senior Cassidy Pilo of Milwaukee.
 
2018 Nike® Men’s Swimmer of the Week
Paul Huch | Oakland | Senior | Ingolstadt, Germany
Oakland’s Paul Huch swam to four of the Golden Grizzlies’ 15 first place finishes on Saturday to help guide Oakland to a 188-112 win over preseason favorite Cleveland State. Huch swam to the top spots in every race, which included the 50 free (20.59), 100 Free (45.28), 400 free relay (3:02.17) and 200 medley relay (1:30.23).

Anna Liu | Green Bay | Sophomore | Des Moines, Iowa
Liu was an unstoppable force against Milwaukee this weekend. She posted a time of 50.88 in the 100 freestyle, winning by three whole seconds and breaking the previous Peter F. Dorschel Natatorium record by over half a second. Liu’s time was not only a personal best, but also moves her into second place in the Horizon League standings this season. In the 100 butterfly, the sophomore won by more than three seconds, breaking another pool record by almost half a second. The 55.78, another personal best, moves her into third in the conference. In addition, her 1:52.80 lead-off split in the 800 free relay was the fastest 200 freestyle flat start out of any league swimmer this weekend, and finally, Liu was a member of the first-place 200 medley relay that beat the Panthers by three seconds.

Joe Smith | Oakland | Senior | Chelsea, Mich.
Oakland’s Joe Smith swept the competition in the 1 meter and 3 meter recording a score of 368.03 and 346.65 respectively to hand the Vikings, the Horizon League preseason favorite, a 188-112 loss in the regular season finale.

2018 Nike® Women’s Diver of the Week
Cassidy Pilo | Milwaukee | Senior | Sussex, Wis.
Senior Cassidy Pilo helped the MKE Panthers defeat Green Bay in Saturday’s dual by sweeping the 1-meter and 3-meter dive events. Pilo won the 3-meter outright scoring a total of 267.60 points – 39 points more than her nearest competition. The Sussex native tallied another 235.80 points in the 1-meter, earning her a sweep on the day.
