Nike #HLWSOC Players of the Week (October 14)
INDIANAPOLIS – Milwaukee’s Julia Barajas and Cleveland State’s Grace Krosky each scored two goals on the road against conference opponents and Oakland’s Jaimie Leas had a shutout to earn Nike #HLWSOC Co-Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards. Barajas had two goals in Milwaukee’s 3-0 victory over Wright State on Saturday. Krosky netted two goals for Cleveland State when they took on Northern Kentucky and won 3-0. Leas helped Oakland to victories over Detroit Mercy and IUPUI with two saves in each game and a shutout on Saturday to close out the week.
Co-Offensive Players of the Week
Julia Barajas | Milwaukee | Sophomore | Forward | Corona, Calif.
In her first game action since Sept. 20, Julia Barajas came through with a pair of goals in Milwaukee's 3-0 victory over Wright State. In a game pitting the top two teams in the regular-season standings, Barajas helped MKE put the game away and move to 5-0 with tallies in the 59th and 80th minutes. It marked her first-ever collegiate game with two goals.
Grace Krosky | Cleveland State | Freshman | Midfielder | Medina, OH
Krosky scored two goals in the Vikings 3-0 victory at Northern Kentucky on Saturday. She scored the game-winning goal in the first period and then tacked on a goal in the second period which pushed the lead to 3-0. Krosky became the 21st player in Cleveland State history to score two goals in a match. She has scored three goals in the last two matches for the Vikings.
Defensive Player of the Week
Jaimie Leas | Oakland | Redshirt Junior | Goalkeeper | Warren, Mich.
Oakland’s Jaimie Leas helped guide the Golden Grizzlies to a 2-0 week, including wins over rival Detroit Mercy on Wednesday, and a shutout victory over IUPUI. The redshirt junior recorded two saves in Oakland’s win over the Titans and tallied two more in the Golden Grizzlies 1-0 win over the Jaguars.
