Nike #HLWBB Players of the Week (November 11)
INDIANAPOLIS – Green Bay’s Karly Murphy is the first Nike® #HLWBB Player of the Week after the sophomore forward averaged 21.0 points and 7.5 rebounds for the Phoenix in two matchups with NCAA Tournament qualifiers from last season in the first week of the season. Youngstown State’s Taylor Petit led the League with a .619 field goal percentage over the opening week of play, averaging 16 points, five rebounds, and 3.5 assists in her first two collegiate contests to earn Nike® Freshman of the Week recognition.

Karly Murphy led Green Bay past Central Michigan to open the season with a career-high 30 points and nine rebounds. The Phoenix defeated the Chippewas 111-105 in double overtime. The 111 points scored by Green Bay is the second highest in program history. Murphy averaged 21.0 PPG and 7.5 rebounds in the first week of play, as GB battled two teams who advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season. Against South Dakota, the sophomore added 12 points and six rebounds, totaling a .487 field goal percentage in her two contests of the opening week of play.

Petit posted the Horizon League’s top field-goal percentage in the opening week as she went 13-for-21 for 61.9 percent from the floor. In the first two games of her career, she averaged 16 points, five rebounds and 3.5 assists as YSU beat Canisius and lost to Kent State in overtime. She scored 15 points and made three 3s in her debut against the Golden Griffins, and she followed that up by posting a team-high 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists while playing all 45 minutes versus the Golden Flashes.
