INDIANAPOLIS – On the opening day of #HLMBB play, the home teams finished 4-1 with Northern Kentucky, Oakland, UIC and Wright State all defending their home floors, while Youngstown State was the lone road team to pick up a win.

GAME RECAPS
Youngstown State 83, IUPUI 73
- Four Penguins scored in double figures led by Darius Quisenberry with 23, 18 in the second half, and Naz Bohannon with 18 points while grabbing 11 rebounds.
- Jaylen Minnett and Marcus Burk were the top scorers for IUPUI with 16 points each. Elyjah Goss, the HL’s rebounding leader, grabbed 18 boards and added 13 points.
- YSU used a 10-0 run over a three-minute stretch late in the second half to earn the victory.
- It marks the third year in a row that Youngstown State has won its #HLMBB opener.
Northern Kentucky 74, Milwaukee 64
- Tyler Sharpe led the way offensively for the Norse with 31 points with six 3-pointers, his third-straight 30-point performance. Trevor Faulknor added 16 points and Adrian Nelson grabbed 12 rebounds
- Milwaukee’s Te’Jon Lucas scored 24 points with 10 field goals and Wil Sessoms totaled 11 points.
- NKU held the Panthers to just 12 percent shooting from 3-point range.
- The Norse are now 4-1 in Horizon League openers.
Wright State 90, Green Bay 84
- Three WSU players finished with 20 or more points with Loudon Love leading with 22 points and 16 rebounds, followed by Cole Gentry with 21 and Bill Wampler with 20.
- The Phoenix finished with three players scoring double digits with freshman Amari Davis recording 18, while Kameron Hankerson and JayQuan McCloud registered 16 each.
- This was a back-and-forth game as Green Bay took a 67-62 lead with seven minutes to play, but Wright State would answer with a 19-8 run over a four-plus minute stretch to take home the win.
- The Raiders outrebounded Green Bay 50-29, including an 18-6 advantage on the offensive boards.
Oakland 78, Detroit Mercy 69
- Xavier Hill-Mais tallied his fourth double-double of the season to lead the Golden Grizzlies with 19 points and 10 rebounds, Tray Maddox Jr. scored 18 points and Brad Brechting grabbed 10 rebounds.
- Detroit Mercy’s Antoine Davis tallied 24 points, going a perfect 12-for-12 from the free-throw line, Jordan Gorman totaled 15 points and Chris Brandon tallied a game-high 18 boards.
- The Golden Grizzlies shot 51 percent from the floor and held the Titans to 27 percent shooting.
- Oakland earned its sixth-straight win over its Metro Series rival.
UIC 71, Cleveland State 66
- Godwin Boahen led all UIC scorers with 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting followed by Marcus Ottey with 13 and Tarkus Ferguson hitting four triples
- Three Cleveland State players finished in double figures with Torrey Patton leading with 22 points and Craig Beaudion registering 15 points and nine assists.
- The game was tied at 60 apiece with less than four minutes to play with the Flames able to pull ahead with a 11-6 run.
- The Flames outrebounded the Vikings 36-21 thanks to a double-double by Braelen Bridges with 13 boards.

HORIZON LEAGUE BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2020 Horizon League Basketball Championships will begin March 3 and 5 at campus sites and eight teams – four men and four women – will look to advance to Indianapolis and #REACHtheHORIZON on March 9-10 at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
Every game of the tournament will be carried on ESPN networks and four of the six games in Indianapolis will appear on national television.
