INDIANAPOLIS – On the opening day of #HLWBB action, Cleveland State, Green Bay, Milwaukee, and Youngstown State earned wins at home while Oakland picked up a road victory.

Oakland 71, Detroit Mercy 57
  • Oakland defeated Metro Series rival Detroit Mercy on the road to open League play with a 1-0 record, topping the Titans 71-57.
  • Chloe Guingrich led the Golden Grizzlies with 17 points and nine rebounds while Jalisha Terry added 15 points for Oakland.
  • Detroit Mercy’s Maxine Moore led all scorers with 22 points, adding five rebounds for the Titans.
Youngstown State 75, IUPUI 73
  • Youngstown State defended its home court against visiting IUPUI on Saturday, outlasting the Jags, 75-73.
  • McKenah Peters scored a career-high 22 points for the Penguins to lead all scorers, while also adding eight rebounds. Chelsea Olson (15 points) and Ny'Dajah Jackson (13 points) also posted double-digit scoring efforts for YSU.
  • Macee Williams posted another double-double for the Jags, totaling 20 points and 10 rebounds in the loss, while three other IUPUI players scored in double figures.
Cleveland State 84, UIC 44
  • Cleveland State extended the longest winning streak in program history to 11 games on Saturday, notching a home win over UIC, 84-44.
  • Five Vikings posted double-figure scoring efforts, led by Mariah Miller (17 points) and Mariah White (15 points). Miller led CSU with nine rebounds and five assists as well.
  • Kimeira Burks led the Flames with nine points and six rebounds.
Green Bay 65, Northern Kentucky 44
  • Co-Preseason favorite Green Bay earned a 65-44 win over NKU at the Kress Center on Saturday to open up League play at 1-0.
  • The Phoenix were very balanced offensively in the contest as Madison Wolf and Frankie Wurtz scored 12 points each, Hailey Oskey added 11 points, and Caitlyn Hibner scored ten points. Green Bay started fast in the contest, scoring 25 points in the opening quarter of action.
  • Ally Niece led the way offensively for NKU as the sophomore scored nine points, adding five rebounds.
Milwaukee 60, Wright State 58
  • Milwaukee edged co-preseason favorite Wright State, 60-58, on Saturday to post a 1-0 record in League play. The Panthers outscored the Raiders by seven points in the third quarter, with WSU outscoring MKE in the other stanzas by two points, two points, and one point, respectively.
  • Sydney Levy posted 20 points for the Panthers to lead all scorers while Alyssa Fischer added 13 points for MKE.
  • Three Raiders posted double-digits in scoring, led by 16 points from sophomore Angel Baker who also pulled down eight rebounds.

HORIZON LEAGUE BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2020 Horizon League Basketball Championships will begin March 3 and 5 at campus sites and eight teams – four men and four women – will look to advance to Indianapolis and #REACHtheHORIZON on March 9-10 at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum.

Every game of the tournament will be carried on ESPN networks and four of the six games in Indianapolis will appear on national television.
