INDIANAPOLIS – Wright State continues to be on top of the #HLMBB standings with a 7-2 non-conference record after winning its last two games as we reach the first full week of December. Northern Kentucky is just one game behind at 6-3, while Cleveland State is riding a three-game winning streak.
#HLMBB NEWS & NOTES
• Wright State remains at No. 12 on the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top-25 poll, while Northern Kentucky is also receiving votes.
• Preseason Player of the Year Antoine Davis of Detroit Mercy continues to lead the HL in scoring and ranks second in the NCAA as he is averaging 24.9 points per game. In addition, he is top 50 in the country in assists per game (5.3), free throw percentage (90.2) and steals per game (2.3).
• IUPUI’s Marcus Burk is right behind Davis ranked 10th in the country with 22.9 points per contest, while ranking fifth in 3-pointers per game at 3.88 and shooting 45.6 percent from long range, good for 38th in the country.
• Cleveland State has won three consecutive non-conference games for the first time since the 2011-12 season when the Vikings won five consecutive games to start the 2011-12 season. CSU is also .500 after eight games for the first time since the 2014-15 season.
• The Raiders have seen a great deal of production from Preseason All-League second team selection Bill Wampler who is fourth in the HL in scoring at 16.1 points per game, while shooting 41.2 percent from the field and hitting 2.4 triples per game.
• Northern Kentucky is one of the best teams in the nation from long range as they rank 47th in the NCAA in 3-point field goals made per game at 9.3. The Norse are also one of the best in defending the three as they hold opponents to a 24.0 3-point field goal percentage, ranked eighth in the nation.
• Green Bay continues to be one of the best offensive teams in the country as the Phoenix are 16th in the NCAA in scoring offense at 83.4 points per game, while also ranking eighth in assists per game with over 18 dimes per contest. Freshman Amari Davis is tops in the #HLMBB and 39th in the NCAA in field-goal percentage as he is shooting 61 percent from the floor.
• Youngstown State continues to hit the offensive glass as the Penguins are fourth in the NCAA in offensive rebounds per game with 15.3 and 29th in total rebounds per game at 41.6. Naz Bohannon is leading the charge on the glass grabbing four offensive boards per game, 10th in the NCAA.
