Nike #HLMBB Players of the Week (February 25)
INDIANAPOLIS – Oakland swept this week’s Nike® #HLMBB Players of the Week honors after defeating its Metro Series rival on Saturday as Xavier Hill-Mais scored 29 points on 13 made field goals to be named Nike® #HLMBB Player of the Week, while Braden Norris hit seven 3-pointers and recorded 10 assists to earn Nike® #HLMBB Freshmen of the Week as the Horizon League announced its men’s basketball weekly honors on Monday.
#HLMBB Player of the Week
Xavier Hill-Mais | Oakland | RS Junior | Forward | Greensboro, N.C.
Hill-Mais earned his second #HLMBB Player of the Week honor of the season, his first since the opening week of the season, after scoring a game-high 29 points, 22 of which came in the second half, against the Titans. The redshirt junior shot 13-for-17 from the floor and registered seven rebounds and three blocks in the 95-75 win against Detroit Mercy. It marks the 15th 20-point game of the season for Hill-Mais and is tied for third in the HL averaging 18.9 points per game.
#HLMBB Freshman of the Week
Braden Norris | Oakland | Freshman | Guard | Hilliard, Ohio
Norris collects his third #HLMBB Freshman of the Week honor this season, but just his first during HL play. The guard recorded his second career double-double by scoring a career-high 23 points on 7-of-10 shooting from 3-point range, while also adding 10 assists as the Golden Grizzlies defeated the Titans on Saturday. His seven 3-pointers were a career high and are tied for the most made by an Oakland player this season. Norris ranks third during League play with 4.7 assists per game and 12th in 3-point field-goal percentage at 38.6.
