INDIANAPOLIS – Week 7 of #HLMBB play started on Thursday with some fireworks as Youngstown State earned a win at the buzzer to help the home teams go 3-1 as Northern Kentucky and Wright State each won at home and Green Bay picked up the lone road win.

Wright State 76, Oakland 62
Wright State trailed at halftime by six points, but used an explosive second period to defeat Oakland, 76-62, at home on Thursday. The Raiders outscored the Golden Grizzlies 41-21 after intermission, including starting the half scoring 18-straight points. Loudon Love picked up a double-double for WSU with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Bill Wampler added 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting. Oakland’s Brad Brechting turned in another good performance with 16 points and 10 boards and Jaevin Cumberland scored a game-high 19 on five 3-pointers. WSU is now in sole possession of second place at 8-4 in League play with the win and Oakland falls to 7-5 in HL play.

Northern Kentucky 97, Detroit Mercy 65
The Norse turned in one of their best offensive performances of the season on Thursday in a 97-65 victory over Detroit Mercy to improve to 14-0 at home. NKU shot over 56.1 percent from the field for the game including 46.7 from 3-point range. Five Northern Kentucky players finished in double figures with Drew McDonald leading the way with 20 points and eight rebounds and Tyler Faulkner with 12 on 6-of-8 shooting. Antoine Davis scored a game-high 26 points for the Titans with four triples to increase his season total to 106. The Norse stay on top of the standings with the win at 9-3 and with the loss Detroit Mercy drops to 6-6.

Green Bay 82, Cleveland State 65
Green Bay improved to 6-6 in Horizon League play on Thursday after collecting an 82-65 win on the road at Cleveland State. Sandy Cohen III scored a team-high 18 points for the Phoenix with seven assists and six rebounds and Trevian Bell shot 6-for-9 from the floor for 14 points as the team shot 52 percent for the game. Tyree Appleby scored a game-high 24 points for the Vikings and also led the team with five assists.

Youngstown State 72, Milwaukee 71
The Penguins extended their winning streak to three games on Thursday in dramatic fashion as Garrett Covington hit a 3-pointer as time expired to give Youngstown State a 72-71 home win over Milwaukee. YSU trailed at the half, 28-27, but earned the comeback win led by Devin Morgan with 21 points on five 3-pointers and Naz Bohannon with 15 points and 11 rebounds to improve to 5-7 in League play. Darius Roy had a great performance for the Panthers with 20 points and 10 boards as MKE drops to 4-7 in the HL.
