INDIANAPOLIS – Week 7 of the #HLMBB season wrapped up on Saturday with Northern Kentucky staying on top of the standings with another home win. Wright State, Cleveland State and Youngstown State also picked up home wins, while UIC collected the only road victory with some late-game heroics.

UIC 76, IUPUI 75
UIC extended its winning streak to three games and improved to 7-5 in HL play after earning a 76-75 victory over IUPUI on Saturday. Five UIC players scored in double figures led by Marcus Ottey with 13 points including the game-winner with 26 second left in regulation, while Tarkus Ferguson and Michael Diggins each added 12 points. IUPUI trailed by as many as 18 points in the game but stormed back in the second half to pull even late in the game. Jaylen Minnett scored a game-high 20 points for the Jags and Ahmed Ismail finished with 13 points and eight rebounds. IUPUI falls to 6-6 in League play.

Cleveland State 78, Milwaukee 68
The Vikings earned their second #HLMBB win of the season on Saturday with a 78-68 win at home over Milwaukee after setting a school record with 16 3-pointers. Tyree Appleby recorded just the first triple-double in Cleveland State history after tallying 19 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists. Jaalam Hill added 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting with seven boards for CSU. The Panthers drop to 4-8 in HL play as Darius Roy finished the game with 17 points, eight rebounds and six assists, while Jake Wright registered 15 points on five triples.

Youngstown State 96, Green Bay 77
YSU pushed its winning streak to four games on Saturday with a 96-77 win over Green Bay as the Penguins are now 6-7 during HL play. Youngstown State shot over 56 percent from the floor for the game including a first half shooting percentage of 65.6 percent (21-32). Darius Quisenberry tallied 24 points and seven assists for YSU and Garrett Covington added 18 points. Green Bay falls to .500 in Horizon League play at 6-6 as Sandy Cohen III and ShanQuan Hemphill each recorded 14 points.

Northern Kentucky 79, Oakland 64
Northern Kentucky remained perfect at home this season and is the first team to reach double-digit wins in #HLMBB play after a 79-64 victory over Oakland on Saturday. The Norse trailed 36-32 at halftime but went on to outscore the Golden Grizzlies 47-28 in the second half. NKU’s Drew McDonald recorded his 12th double-double of the season with 21 points and 13 rebounds, while Jalen Tate added 19 points and six assists. Oakland was led by Brad Brechting and Jaevin Cumberland who each scored 16 points and James Beck finished with 13 points. The Golden Grizzlies dropped to 7-6 in HL play.

Wright State 83, Detroit Mercy 60
The Raiders improved to 9-4 in HL play on Saturday and have now won six of their last seven games after claiming an 83-60 home win over Detroit Mercy. WSU got in done defensively as the Titans shot under 40 percent for the game and just 17.6 percent from long range. Loudon Love paced Wright State with 17 points and eight boards and freshmen Malachi Smith and Skyelar Potter each collected 14 points. Antoine Davis scored a team-high 17 points for Detroit Mercy with a pair of triples and Harrison Curry tallied 16 points and eight rebounds.

The 2019 Little Caesars Horizon League Basketball Championships will begin March 5-6 at highest seeds and will culminate with the semifinal and championship games on March 11-12 at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.
