INDIANAPOLIS – Saturday’s #HLMBB schedule had a pair of games that saw Youngstown State and UIC each improve to 6-5 during HL play.

  • UIC’s Marcus Ottey hit a pair of free throws with 2.2 seconds remaining in regulation to give the Flames a 4-1 record over their five-game road swing.
  • Tarkus Ferguson scored a game-high 20 points for UIC on 8-of-11 shooting and Ottey added 15 points.
  • Cleveland State’s Craig Beaudion finished with a team-best 12 points. Franklyn Penn Jr. and Algevon Eichelberger each recorded 10 points.
  • The Flames earn the season sweep of the Vikings and improve to 6-5, while CSU falls to 5-6.
Youngstown State 91, IUPUI 76
  • Youngstown State pulled into a tie for third place in the HL standings after winning the second game against the Jags this season.
  • Darius Quisenberry tied for a game-high 22 points with seven assists for the Penguins and Michael Akuchie nearly finished with a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds.
  • IUPUI’s Marcus Burk also ended the game with 22 points and Elyjah Goss recorded his seventh double-double during #HLMBB play with 13 points and 11 boards.
  • YSU shot 54.5 percent from the floor and outscored the Jags 44-28 in points in the paint.

HORIZON LEAGUE BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2020 Horizon League Basketball Championships will begin March 3 and 5 at campus sites and eight teams – four men and four women – will look to advance to Indianapolis and #REACHtheHORIZON on March 9-10 at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum.

Every game of the tournament will be carried on ESPN networks and four of the six games in Indianapolis will appear on national television.
