INDIANAPOLIS – The eighth week of #HLWBB play opened up on Thursday night with IUPUI and Northern Kentucky earning key victories.

  • Northern Kentucky (9-5) moved into a tie for second place in the #HLWBB standings following a 78-35 home win over UIC on Thursday night.
  • The Norse held a significant advantage over the Flames in points in the paint (34-18), points off turnovers (26-6) and second chance points (21-4) in the contest.
  • Freshman Carissa Garcia scored 20 points to lead NKU while Ally Niece added 13 points and Ivy Turner chipped in 12 points. Kailey Coffey hauled in 13 rebounds for the Norse.
  • The Flames were paced by 11 points from Kimeira Burks.
IUPUI 62, Wright State 58
  • League-leader IUPUI (13-1) extended its win streak to 13 games and clinched at least a share of its first regular season title, with a 62-58 road triumph at Wright State.
  • IUPUI trailed by two with 6:34 to play when a three-point shot by Sydney Roule gave the Jaguars a one-point lead, which they never relinquished. Katelyn O’Reilly helped to seal the victory with a layup with 32 seconds remaining to give IUPUI a three-point advantage.
  • Macee Williams led the Jags with 19 points as Holly Hoopingarner added 12 points.
  • The Raiders were led by 22 points from sophomore Angel Baker in the setback, while Tyler Frierson pulled down 12 boards.

HORIZON LEAGUE BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2020 Horizon League Basketball Championships will begin March 3 and 5 at campus sites and eight teams – four men and four women – will look to advance to Indianapolis and #REACHtheHORIZON on March 9-10 at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum.

Every game of the tournament will be carried on ESPN networks and four of the six games in Indianapolis will appear on national television.
