INDIANAPOLIS – The bracket for the 2020 #HLWBB Championship was released on Saturday, following the completion of the regular season.
IUPUI earned the No. 1 seed and the first outright regular season title in program history, ending the regular season with an 87-51 win vs. UIC on Friday night to finish League play at 15-3.
Green Bay will be the No. 2 seed during the championship. The Phoenix earned a 71-51 victory over Youngstown State on Saturday to improve to 13-5 in #HLWBB play and held the tiebreaker over Wright State courtesy of last Sunday’s win at IUPUI.
Wright State (13-5) earned a 66-58 win at Detroit Mercy on Saturday, securing the No. 3 seed. Northern Kentucky (12-6) will be the No. 4 seed as the Norse wrapped the regular season with a two-point triumph at Oakland on Saturday.
Milwaukee (11-7) will be the No. 5 seed following a 61-57 home win over Cleveland State on Saturday to close out the regular season. The Vikings (9-9) are the No. 6 seed and will also host a first-round contest.
Youngstown State (6-12) is the No. 7 seed and Oakland (6-12) is the No. 8 seed as the Penguins’ win over No. 1 seed IUPUI gave the Penguins the tiebreaker. Detroit Mercy (3-15) is the No. 9 seed and UIC (2-16) is the No. 10 seed for the championship.
The 2020 Horizon League Basketball Championships will begin March 3 and 5 at campus sites and eight teams – four men and four women – will look to advance to Indianapolis and #REACHtheHORIZON on March 9-10 at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
Every game of the tournament will be carried on ESPN networks with the first three rounds of the women’s championship streamed on ESPN+ and the championship game broadcast on ESPNU.
Tuesday, March 3 begins first-round action with three games at 7 p.m. ET as No. 3 seed Wright State hosts No. 10 seed UIC at the Nutter Center, No. 4 seed NKU takes on No. 9 seed Detroit Mercy at BB&T Arena and No. 6 seed Cleveland State welcomes No. 7 seed YSU to the Wolstein Center. No. 8 seed Oakland travels to No. 5 seed Milwaukee at 8 p.m. ET in the Klotsche Center to close out the night.
