INDIANAPOLIS – Week seven of #HLWBB play came to an end on Saturday with all 10 teams in action. IUPUI, Northern Kentucky and Wright State earned road wins to remain in the top three spots in the standings while Milwaukee and Detroit Mercy held on for home victories.

Detroit Mercy 58, UIC 52
  • Detroit Mercy earned its third League win on Saturday, completing the season sweep over UIC with a 58-52 home triumph.
  • The Titans jumped out to a fast start, outscoring the Flames 38-16 in the first 20 minutes. UIC responded in the second half, scoring 36 and holding Detroit Mercy to 20 points as the Titans held on for the victory.
  • Jiera Shears scored 14 points to lead Detroit Mercy while Sylare Starks and Zoey Oatis added 11 points each.
  • Jada Nneji had a strong outing for the Flames, recording a double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds, adding four blocks and five steals as well.
Northern Kentucky 59, Youngstown State 55
  • Northern Kentucky improved to 8-5 in #HLWBB play on Saturday, topping Youngstown State, 59-55.
  • Trailing 24-8 heading into the second quarter, the Norse defense locked in over the final three periods, allowing just 31 points over the final 30 minutes to clinch the key victory and move into sole possession of third place in the standings.
  • Molly Glick (14 points) and Ivy Turner (11 points) led a balanced scoring attack for NKU in the win.
  • YSU’s Chelsea Olson posted 20 points to lead all scorers in the contest.
Wright State 75, Cleveland State 73
  • Second place Wright State is now 9-4 in the League standings following a narrow 75-73 triumph at Cleveland State on Saturday afternoon.
  • The Raider bench was a key factor in the win as WSU totaled 33 bench points in the game, including 24 in the second half while the Vikings totaled four bench points in the contest.
  • Shamarre Hale posted 18 points for WSU while Angel Baker and Anisja Harris each added 17 points.
  • Mariah Miller scored a game-high 26 points, adding 10 rebounds to lead the Vikings. Jade Ely added 20 points and 9 rebounds for CSU.
IUPUI 89, Oakland 63
  • IUPUI continued its impressive win streak on Saturday, earning a 12th straight victory at Oakland, 89-63, to improve to 12-1 in #HLWBB play.
  • The Jaguars dominated the Golden Grizzlies in points in the paint (56-26) and second chance points (21-2), while also shooting 53.7 percent from the floor.
  • Macee Williams shot a blistering 15-19 from the field (78.9 percent), scoring 31 points and pulling down eight rebounds. Katelyn O’Reilly recorded 13 rebounds in the contest and Rachel McLimore scored 13 points for IUPUI.
  • Alona Blackwell scored 14 points for the Golden Grizzlies and Autumn Kissman added 11 points.
Milwaukee 65, Green Bay 60
  • Milwaukee held on for its sixth League victory on Saturday, topping rival Green Bay, 65-60, to split the season series with the Phoenix.
  • In a back and forth contest in which the lead changed 12 times, the Panthers overcame a five-point deficit at the half to clinch the victory and move into sixth place in the standings with six games remaining.
  • MKE utilized a balanced scoring attack as five players were in double figures. Jamie Reit added a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Panthers off the bench.
  • Frankie Wurtz led the Phoenix offensively with 24 points in the loss.

HORIZON LEAGUE BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2020 Horizon League Basketball Championships will begin March 3 and 5 at campus sites and eight teams – four men and four women – will look to advance to Indianapolis and #REACHtheHORIZON on March 9-10 at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum.

Every game of the tournament will be carried on ESPN networks and four of the six games in Indianapolis will appear on national television.
