Additional Persons from Collegiate Officiating Consortium Test Positive for COVID-19

The health and safety of our fans and communities is paramount. Out of an abundance of caution, the Horizon League, in conjunction with the Collegiate Officiating Consortium is notifying the public of additional persons on or near the floor during certain Horizon League and Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference games who have tested positive for COVID-19.

One or more of these persons was on or near the floor for the following games:

  • Friday, March 6: Niagara at Canisius at Koessler Athletic Center (Buffalo, NY) – Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game
  • Monday, March 9: Green Bay vs. Northern Kentucky at Indiana Farmers Coliseum (Indianapolis, IN) – Horizon League Tournament semifinal
  • Tuesday, March 10: Iona vs. Canisius and Niagara vs. Marist, each at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall (Atlantic City, NJ) – Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament 1st round
  • Wednesday, March 11: St. Peter’s vs. Iona at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall (Atlantic City, NJ) – Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinal

Horizon League staff members have directly communicated with League members, related game personnel, related volunteers and the Indiana Farmers Coliseum. We continue to adhere to the guidance issued by the CDC and federal and state governments in these unprecedented times and we encourage our fans to do the same.

Notification was provided on Wednesday (March 18, 2020) that two persons on the floor during certain tournament games had tested positive for COVID-19, with one or both of these persons on the floor during specific games involving the America East, Horizon League and Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournaments.

The Collegiate Officiating Consortium represents Division I institutions from the America East Conference, Big Ten Conference, Horizon League, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), Mid-American Conference (MAC) and The Summit League, providing oversight of men’s basketball officiating operations for 65 Division I institutions in 22 states.
