INDIANAPOLIS – Week 3 of the #HLMBB season came to a close on Saturday with Cleveland State remaining perfect, Northern Kentucky improving to 3-1 at home, Oakland taking down previously unbeaten Wright State and Green Bay earning its first HL win of the season.

Green Bay 79, Youngstown State 69
  • The Phoenix earned its first victory of the season and claimed a series split on the road at Youngstown State. The win also marked the first victory for new head coach Will Ryan.
  • Green Bay’s PJ Pipes posted just the fourth 30-point performance this season in League play as he finished with 30 points on 6-of-7 shooting from long range and went a perfect 10-for-10 from the free-throw line.
  • Youngstown State was led by Naz Bohannon who registered 23 points and seven rebounds, while Darius Quisenberry added 14 points and seven assists.  
  • The game was tied with just under five minutes to play in regulation before GB finished the game on a 16-6 run thanks to Pipes scoring 12 of his 30 during the stretch including two triples.
Cleveland State 59, IUPUI 49
  • CSU remains unbeaten during Horizon League play and is now 6-0 this season, matching its mark from the 2007-08 season.
  • Tre Gomillion scored a game-high 18 points for Cleveland State on 8-of-13 shooting and Torrey Patton chipped in 12 points and six rebounds.
  • IUPUI ended the game with a pair of players in double figures with Marcus Burk tallying 15 points and Azariah Seay recording 14.
  • Both teams turned the ball over 21 times, but the Vikings were able to capitalize outscoring the Jags 26-14 in points off turnovers.
Oakland 81, Wright State 71
  • Oakland handed Wright State its first loss in League play and salvaged a series split as it claimed its first home win of the season.
  • Jalen Moore led the charge for Oakland registering a double-double with 24 points, shooting 10-for-10 from the free-throw line, and tied a season-high with 12 assists. Rashad Williams collected 18 points with four 3-pointers.
  • Four WSU players finished in double figures with Tanner Holden recording a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards and Loudon Love scored a team-high 17 points with nine rebounds.
  • The Golden Grizzlies won the turnover battle 19-8 with 14 steals and converted them into 23 points and also outscored the Raiders in the paint 40-34.
Northern Kentucky 70, Purdue Fort Wayne 68
  • The Norse earned its first series sweep of the season to improve to 3-1 in HL play and 5-1 at home.
  • For the second-straight game, Marques Warrick led NKU in scoring with a game-high 22 points. Trey Robinson also finished in double figures with 17 points.  
  • Four Mastodons ended the game with double-digit points with Jalon Pipkins registering a team-best 16 points, while Bobby Planutis added 13 and both Jarred Godfrey and Demetric Horton had 10.
  • Northern Kentucky won the game in dramatic fashion as Warrick scored the game-winning basket in the lane with just 2.4 second left in regulation.
