Nike #HLWBB Players of the Week (January 25)
INDIANAPOLIS – Milwaukee’s Megan Walstad is the Nike® #HLWBB Player of the Week for the third time this season and second straight week as the Panthers earned two road wins at defending League champion IUPUI and are now 12-0 in League play. The redshirt sophomore averaged 18.5 points and 9.5 rebounds while shooting 71.4 percent from the field. RMU’s Sol Castro earned Nike® #HLWBB Freshman of the Week honors for the first time as she averaged 21.5 points and 8.0 rebounds in two wins over Wright State.

In a sweep at preseason favorite IUPUI, Walstad averaged 18.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks while shooting 71.4 percent (15-for-21) from the floor and 5-for-5 from the free throw line. In Friday's win, the redshirt sophomore totaled 14 points and eight rebounds with a pair of blocks. After early foul trouble had her on the bench for much of the first half, Walstad came out and dominated in the final 30 minutes on Saturday. She recorded her league-leading seventh double-double of the season with 23 points on 9-for-11 shooting to go with 11 rebounds to lead the Panthers to an 85-83 double-overtime win over the Jaguars. In the two overtimes, Walstad recorded six points and four boards.

Sol Castro had a career weekend against Wright State, becoming the first RMU freshman since current teammate Honoka Ikematsu in 2017-18 to score 20 or more points in back-to-back games. Castro posted the first double-double of her collegiate career in the Friday matchup, setting career highs in points (23) on 8-of-14 shooting and rebounds (11). The following day, she scored 20 points on 8-of-16 from the field, adding five rebounds, two assists, and two blocks as the Colonials completed the weekend sweep of the Raiders. Castro averaged 21.5 points and 8.0 rebounds for the weekend while shooting 53.3 percent.
