INDIANAPOLIS – Week 7 of the #HLMBB season tipped off on Friday with Wright State earning a win on ESPNU with a strong second-half performance. In other games around the HL, Detroit Mercy and Oakland earned road wins, while Cleveland State, IUPUI and Northern Kentucky each defended their home floors.

Detroit Mercy 78, Youngstown State 75
- Detroit Mercy has won four out of its last five games including back-to-back victories on the road.
- Antoine Davis scored a game-high 25 points for the Titans with 10 made field goals and added seven assists. Matt Johnson scored 14 points and Dwayne Rose Jr. finished 6-of-7 from the floor for 12 points.
- Youngstown State’s Garrett Covington hit five 3-pointers to finish with a team-best 24 points and Michael Akuchie recorded a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
- The Titans shot 55.2 percent from the field and they may have forced just nine YSU turnovers, but were able to convert them into 20 points.
Northern Kentucky 72, UIC 68
- Northern Kentucky claimed is third-straight win and is now over .500 in Horizon League play at 6-5.
- NKU’s Trevon Faulkner recorded his first career double-double, doing so in the first half, and finished with 25 points and 12 boards. Marques Warrick finished with 20 with 16 coming in the second half.
- Zion Griffin tallied 15 points to lead the Flames, while Michael Diggins and Maurice Commander each scored 12 points.
- UIC trailed by double-digits with less than 4:30 to play and cut it to a one-possession game after a quick 9-0 run, but the Norse held on for the victory as Warrick and Faulkner combined to score the final 11 points for the Norse including Faulkner hitting a pair of free throws with just seconds remaining in regulation.
IUPUI 73, Milwaukee 68
- IUPUI claimed its first #HLMBB win at home this season and improved to 3-6 during Horizon League play.
- The Jags were led by Marcus Burk with 26 points including three triples and Elyjah Goss tallied a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds.
- Te’Jon Lucas registered 20 points for Milwaukee and added seven assists, while DeAndre Gholston and Amir Allen added 10 points each.
- IUPUI never trailed during the game and led the Panthers in rebounding, 42-31, and fastbreak points, 15-6.
Cleveland State 74, Green Bay 68
- The Vikings improved to 11-2 in Horizon League play and 6-1 at home against HL opponents.
- Five CSU players ended the game in double figures led by Craig Beaudion with 16 points and six assists and Torrey Patton added 13 points.
- Green Bay’s Amari Davis scored a game-high 27 points and PJ Pipes registered 12.
- The Vikings shot 50.0 percent from behind the arc (9-18) while holding the Phoenix to just 23.8 percent (5-21) from long range.
Oakland 81, Purdue Fort Wayne 66
- Oakland has now won four out of its last five games and handed Purdue Fort Wayne its third consecutive loss.
- Jalen Moore led five Oakland players in double figures with 18 points and nine assists, while freshman Trey Townsend collected a double-double with 11 points and 12 boards.
- Bobby Planutis led the Mastodons in scoring with 16 points on four 3-pointers and Jarred Godfrey nearly tallied a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds.
- The Golden Grizzlies led 31-27 at halftime but turned it up in the second period outscoring Purdue Fort Wayne 50-39 on 53.3 percent shooting with six triples.
Wright State 79, RMU 70
- WSU has won three games in a row and earned its first victory during an ESPN linear broadcast this season to become the second #HLMBB to reach double-digit wins in League play.
- Grant Basile recorded a career-high 29 points for the Raiders and his first double-double of the season with 11 rebounds. Tanner Holden added 16 points, eight from the free-throw line and six assists.
- RMU’s Kahliel Spear scored a team-high 18 points and Kam Farris hit four 3-pointers and finished with 16.
- Neither team shot well in the first half, but both turned it on offensively in the second period as Wright State was able to pull away shooting 60.0 percent from the floor in the final 20 minutes.
