Horizon League Reveals 2021 #HLVB All-Academic Team
INDIANAPOLIS – Recognizing student-athletes for their success both in competition and in the classroom, the Horizon League released its 2021 Volleyball All-Academic Team on Tuesday. A total of 13 student-athletes were named to the All-Academic Team while 10 more were tabbed as honorable mentions in balloting by the League’s faculty athletics representatives.
The All-Academic team and honorable mention team are comprised of student-athletes from 10 institutions. Oakland led the League with four total selections, two on each team, while Milwaukee placed three student-athletes on the All-Academic Team, most among League institutions. RMU and Wright State totaled three honorees each while two student-athletes from Cleveland State, Green Bay, IUPUI and Northern Kentucky earned recognition. One student-athlete from Youngstown State was named to the All-Academic Team and one student-athlete from UIC earned Honorable Mention Team honors.
The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with seasonal Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship sports. To be eligible for Horizon League All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits, and participate in 50 percent of the team’s overall contests. An Honorable Mention is awarded to student-athletes who received at least 25 percent of votes, but did not make the All-Academic team.
