INDIANAPOLIS – Cleveland State (3-0), Purdue Fort Wayne (1-0) and Youngstown State (2-0) were undefeated while Green Bay, IUPUI, Northern Kentucky, and Oakland each picked up one victory in the opening week of the season. All 12 teams begin #HLWBB play on Thursday, Nov. 18 with all six contests on ESPN+.

#HLWBB NEWS & NOTES

  • In this week’s College Insider Women’s Mid-Major Top 25 poll, IUPUI ranked No. 10 while Wright State, Cleveland State, Milwaukee, Green Bay and Northern Kentucky all received votes.
  • Sophomore Destiny Leo notched three straight 20-point games, helping the Vikings to a 3-0 record to start the season. She averaged 24.7 points on a .595 field goal percentage (22-37) through the first week of play and also shot .579 from three-point (11-19) and was perfect from the free throw line (19-19) on the week.
  • Purdue Fort Wayne junior Sylare Starks scored 21 points to lead Purdue Fort Wayne to a 102-35 win over Manchester last week, which was the largest margin of victory by a Mastodon team since 1995. Starks went 8-of-13 from the floor (61.5 percent) and 5-of-6 from 3-point range (83.3 percent) for a career-high 21 points.
  • Malia Magestro led Youngstown State with 14.5 points per game in the opening week while Lilly Reitz pulled in 9.0 rebounds per game to lead the Penguins.
  • Green Bay’s Meghan Pingel paced the League with a .667 field goal percentage this week, averaging a team-best 18.0 points per game.
  • IUPUI’s Macee Williams averaged 20.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals, 2.5 blocked shots and 2.0 assists per game in the Jaguars’ first two contests of the year, earning her 12th career Player of the Week award.
  • Redshirt senior Lindsey Duvall anchored NKU in multiple stat categories during the first week, including points per game (23.5), field goal percentage (52%), three-point percentage (58%), rebounds per game (6.5), total steals (4), and total points (47).
  • Senior guard Kahlaijah Dean poured in 27 points in Oakland's season opener against Toledo then added 11 points, four rebounds and two assists to go along with five steals in the win over Niagara.
  • Megan Walstad (13.0 points) and Sydney Staver (12.67 points) led Milwaukee in scoring during the first week of the season.
  • Constance Chaplin hauled in 9.0 rebounds per game to lead Wright State this week.
  • Sophomore Sol Castro paced RMU with 11.0 points per game in the Colonials’ first two contests.
  • Keona Schenck led the Flames with 12 points, playing more than 37 minutes in the season opener at Northwestern.
  • Monique Pruitt averaged a team-high 11.5 points per game for Detroit Mercy in the opening week of the season.
