Nike #HLMBB Players of the Week (November 22)
INDIANAPOLIS – Oakland’s Jamal Cain averaged a League-high 30.0 points and 13.5 rebounds for the week including a career-high 31-point effort at No. 14 Alabama to earn Nike® #HLMBB Player of the Week, while Northern Kentucky’s Sam Vinson registered a clutch 17 points in a home win over Eastern Michigan to be named Nike® #HLMBB Freshman of the Week as the Horizon League announced its men’s basketball weekly honors on Monday.

Jamal Cain | Oakland | Redshirt Senior | Forward | Pontiac, Mich.
Cain averaged 30.0 points, 13.5 rebounds and 3.0 steals to lead the Oakland men’s basketball team to a 1-1 record, highlighted by an 80-59 home-opening victory over Toledo. The Marquette transfer posted career-high marks in points (29) and rebounds (17) along with three steals and two blocks against the Rockets as the Golden Grizzlies won their home opener for the second time in three seasons. Cain went 13-for-21 from the floor in the game including shooting a blistering 12-of-14 from inside the arc. At No. 14 Alabama, Cain reached a career-high in points for the second-straight game, as he scored 31 points and added 10 rebounds and three steals. For the week, Cain led all Horizon League players in points and rebounds, while also leading the HL with three double-doubles so far this season. Through four games, Cain is the only Division I player in the nation averaging over 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game.
#HLMBB Freshman of the Week
Sam Vinson | Northern Kentucky | Freshman | Guard | Fort Thomas, Ky.
Vinson played a pivotal role in Northern Kentucky’s second-half rally to defeat Eastern Michigan at home, 74-73. The freshman point guard scored 17 points, 14 of which came in the second half, and buried 4-of-5 3-point attempts on the evening. In the second half alone, he scored on five separate occasions to either tie the game or give the Norse the lead, with the last two times coming in the final two minutes and regaining leads for NKU. For the week, Vinson tops in the HL in steals and 3-point field-goal percentage, while also finishing top-10 in scoring.
