INDIANAPOLIS – The second week of #HLWBB play started on Thursday with Green Bay and IUPUI earning road wins and Oakland and Youngstown State picking up home victories.

IUPUI 87, Detroit Mercy 52

  • IUPUI earned its first League victory with an 87-52 triumph at Detroit Mercy on Thursday.
  • Macee Williams led the Jaguars with 18 points and six rebounds while Anna Mortag added 15 points for IUPUI off the bench.
  • Sydney Searcy scored 18 points to lead the Titans.
  • The Jags hit 11 three-pointers while the Titans made just one field goal beyond the arc.
Youngstown State 58, Milwaukee 50
  • Youngstown State is 3-0 in #HLWBB play and 6-0 overall following a 58-50 home victory over Milwaukee on Thursday.
  • The Penguins led 15-14 after a defensive battle in the first 20 minutes then outscored the Panthers 22-11 in the pivotal third quarter.
  • Paige Shy led YSU with 16 points and Megan Callahan scored 13 points for the Penguins.
  • Megan Walstad paced MKE with 16 points in the setback.
Oakland 67, UIC 59
  • Oakland moved to 2-1 in League play with a 67-59 home victory over UIC on Thursday.
  • The Golden Grizzlies hauled in 43 rebounds in the contest, 14 more than the Flames and also made ten three-pointers in the win.    
  • Kahlaijah Dean led Oakland with 16 points while Lamariyee Williams and Alona Blackwell also scored in double figures for the Golden Grizzlies.
  • UIC’s Jaida McCloud scored a game-high 22 points, adding eight rebounds for the Flames.
Green Bay 63, RMU 44
  • Green Bay improved to 2-1 in #HLWBB play with a 63-44 road win at RMU on Thursday.
  • The Phoenix defense held the Colonials to just 12 points in the middle two quarters of the contest.
  • A trio of Phoenix scored in double figures as Cassie Schiltz led the way with 16 points and Sydney Levy added 14 points.
  • Esther Castedo paced the Colonials with eight points.
Ball State 86, Purdue Fort Wayne 58
  • Sylare Starks led the Mastodons with 16 points as Purdue Fort Wayne dropped a non-League contest at Ball State on Thursday.
