INDIANAPOLIS – Cleveland State earned both Nike #HLSB awards in the first week of season. Senior Sydney Bajusz earned Nike #HLSB Player of the Week honors, hitting .385 with three RBIs while junior Taylor Betz threw 15.0 innings for the Vikings with nine strikeouts and an ERA of 2.33 to earn Nike #HLSB Pitcher of the Week honors.

Sydney Bajusz appeared in all four of the Vikings games this past weekend against Bowling Green State University, registering 13 at-bats and recording five hits, including three doubles, a homerun and three RBI. In her second game of the weekend, Bajusz went a perfect 2-2 from the pate, smacking two doubles and earning one walk. In the Green and White’s final game of their season-opening homestand, the senior went 3-5 with one RBI double and a two-run homer. Overall, Bajusz is batting .385.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK | TAYLOR BETZ | CLEVELAND STATE | JUNIOR | OUTSIDE PITCHER | BUFFALO, N.Y.
Taylor Betz threw 15.0 innings for Cleveland State over the team’s two-day, four-game, stint against Bowling Green. The junior from Buffalo went 1-1 this past weekend, striking out nine with an ERA of 2.33. Betz threw a one-run complete game in the team’s second game on Friday, a 3-1 victory. She followed up that performance on Saturday in the Vikings’ final game of the weekend, throwing eight innings and striking out six.
