INDIANAPOLIS – Friday began the start of Week 8 of #HLMBB play with the road teams going 5-1 highlighted by Cleveland State and Wright State staying on top of the standings, while Detroit Mercy was the only home team to defend its home floor and has now won four in a row.

IUPUI 80, Green Bay 71
  • IUPUI claimed its second win in three games and its third #HLMBB road win of the season.
  • Marcus Burk and Jaylen Minnett led the way once again for the Jags as both posted 20-point performances with Burk tallying 25 and Minnett recording 21. Elyjah Goss registered his fifth double-double during HL play with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
  • Green Bay’s Amari Davis scored a game-high 26 points and Emmanuel Ansong added 15 points off the bench.
  • The Jags trailed by three at halftime, but came out shooting in the second period shooting 52.4 percent from the floor including going 5-for-9 from long range.  
Northern Kentucky 87, Milwaukee 73
  • The Norse are now riding a five-game winning streak and improved to 8-5 in Horizon League play with their third road win of the HL season.
  • Four NKU players finished in double figures with Marques Warrick scoring a team-best 21 points with eight assists and Bryson Langdon ended the game with 19 points on 4-of-6 shooting from behind the 3-point line.
  • DeAndre Gholston registered a game-high 24 points for the Panthers, Te’Jon Lucas registered 12 points and six assists and Josh Thomas tallied 13 off the bench.
  • Northern Kentucky made 18 3-pointers, the most by the Norse since 2007, including making three in a row to start the second half on a 9-0 run after the teams were tied at half, 43-43.
Detroit Mercy 82, Purdue Fort Wayne 72
  • Detroit Mercy continues to be one of the hottest teams in the Horizon League as it has won four in a row and six of its last seven contests.
  • Antoine Davis registered his League-leading third 30-point effort for the Titans during #HLMBB play ending the game with 30 on 8-of-11 shooting from long range. Bul Kuol also had an impressive performance with 29 points on 12-made field goals.
  • Jalon Pipkins and Demetric Horton each tallied a team-high 17 points for Purdue Fort Wayne, while Jarred Godfrey nearly posted a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds.
  • Both teams shot over 50 percent from the floor, but the Titans finished 16-of-29 from long range for 55.2 percent compared to the Mastodons going 12-for-30 for 40.0 percent.
Cleveland State 80, Oakland 72
  • Cleveland State won its third-straight game and picked up its sixth road win of the HL season to improve to 13-2 in HL play.
  • CSU’s Torrey Patton recorded 21 points for his first 20-point performance of the season and 10 rebounds for his third double-double during HL play. Jayson Woodrich made four 3-pointers to close the game with 12 points.
  • Jalen Moore totaled a team-high 20 points for the Golden Grizzlies and 11 assists marking his League-best eighth 20-point game and eighth double-double in #HLMBB play. Freshman Micah Parrish tallied also tallied a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards.
  • The Vikings outscored the Golden Grizzlies 28-8 in points off the bench and 23-7 in fastbreak points.
Youngstown State 84, RMU 78 (OT)
  • The Penguins claimed their first road win in HL play since Jan. 8 at Wright State with the overtime victory.
  • Four YSU players finished in double figures led by Darius Quisenberry with 20 points in his first action since Jan. 2, while Naz Bohannon recorded 18.
  • RMU’s AJ Bramah posted double-double No. 5 in Horizon League play with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Kahliel Spear recorded 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting.
  • The Colonials sent the game to overtime on a Jon Williams triples as time expired, but the Penguins won the extra period 13-7 as YSU went 10-for-12 from the charity stripe in OT.
Wright State 72, UIC 47
  • Wright State won its sixth consecutive Horizon League game and improved to 6-1 on the road in HL play.
  • WSU’s Loudon Love registered a game-high 23 points and grabbed 12 boards for his sixth double-double of the HL season. Trey Calvin added 12 points and Grant Basile fell one point shy of a double-double with nine points and 10 boards.
  • Maurice Commander was the lone UIC player to finish in double figures with 10.
  • The Raiders held the Flames to 36.7 percent from the flooring including just 2-for-18 from 3-point range.
