Nike #HLBASE Players of the Week (March 10)
INDIANAPOLIS – Wright State’s Quincy Hamilton hit .417 and blasted three home runs to help the Raiders start League play with a series sweep to earn Nike #HLBASE Batter of the Week, while Youngstown State’s Collin Floyd began HL play by tossing a nine-inning complete game shutout with eight strikeouts to claim Nike #HLBASE Pitcher of the Week as the Horizon League announced its baseball weekly honors on Wednesday.

Hamilton powered the Raiders to a four-game sweep of Northern Kentucky to begin Horizon League play over the weekend, finishing the weekend hitting .417 (5-for-12) with four of his hits going for extra bases – three of them for homers. He connected on a solo homer on Friday night before going back-to-back days with two-run shots on Saturday and Sunday. Hamilton also added a double in Saturday’s second game of the doubleheader, as he finished with six RBIs and seven runs scored. The outfielder also drew six walks and swiped two bases.

Floyd tossed the first complete game shutout by a Penguin since 2012 to lead the Penguins to a 3-0 win over Purdue Fort Wayne on Saturday. He scattered three singles and struck out a season-high eight batters without a walk over a career-high nine scoreless innings to earn his first victory of the season. The Akron, Ohio, native tossed YSU's first complete game shutout since Blake Aquadro blanked UIC over nine innings in 2012. Floyd sat down the Mastodons in order five times and retired the final eight batters he faced. Floyd faced just three batters over the minimum and did not allow a hit until the fourth inning.
