CARMEL, Ind.
- The 2020 Horizon League Cross Country Championship took place at Northview Church in Carmel, Ind. on Thursday. Senior Meg Swietlik was the #HLXC 6k champion and took Athlete of the Year for the Milwaukee. Youngstown State sophomore, Chase Easterling, was the men's 8k champion and Athlete of the Year. The women's championship title went to Milwaukee with a score of 58 points, while the men's title went to IUPUI with 34 points.

Milwaukee senior Meg Swietlik was the Horizon League Cross Country Women's 6k Champion after crossing the line in a time of 22:33.3. She was later voted Athlete of the Year by the League's 11 head coaches. Fellow Panther, Mikayla Fox, was the runner-up with a finish of 21:58.6. Oakland's Rachel Kempf (22:04) was third across the line, followed by Morgan Cole (22:07.5) of Youngstown State and Wright State's Abigail Halsey (22:21.3). Women's Freshman of the Year, Maryam Sheena of Oakland, was the sixth place finisher with a finish of 22:45.2.
 

The women's #HLXC Championship title was earned by Milwaukee (58 points) after a tiebreaker with runner-up Oakland (58 points). Third place was IUPUI (101 points) followed by Youngstown State (103 points). Northern Kentucky picked up 127 points to close out the top five.
 
Chase Easterling of Youngstown State was the Athlete of the Year and Horizon League Cross Country Men's 8k Champion after finishing in a time of 25:22.0 while UIC senior Carlos Cabrera (25:31.9) was the runner-up. Freshman of the Year, IUPUI's Mitchell Gits, was the third place finisher with a time of 25:34. The Jags also took fourth and fifth with Alexander Ratkovich (25:36.9) and Nicholas Perkins (25:37.2).

IUPUI was the Men's #HLXC Championship winning team with a score of 34 points. Runner-up was Youngstown State (81 points), trailed by Oakland (90 points) and Milwaukee (90 points). UIC (107 points) placed fifth for the men's teams.
