Nike #HLBASE Players of the Week (April 6)
INDIANAPOLIS – Youngstown State’s Dominick Bucko hit .615 in 13 at-bats with four extra-base including two home runs to take home Nike #HLBASE Batter of the Week, while UIC’s Cristian Lopez tossed a complete game shutout surrendering just two hits and striking out four to claim Nike #HLBASE Pitcher of the Week as the Horizon League announced its baseball weekly honors on Tuesday.

Dominick Bucko | Youngstown State | Senior | Outfielder | Saxonburg, Pa.
Bucko batted .615 and slugged 1.308 with eight hits including two home runs, a double and a triple in 13 at-bats to help lead the Penguins to a series victory over UIC this past weekend at Eastwood Field. He also recorded eight RBIs, five runs scored, two walks, 17 total bases, a .667 on-base percentage and a stolen base. Bucko delivered a game-tying RBI triple and scored the winning run in YSU’s 2-1 win over UIC in the first game of a doubleheader on Friday. In game one of Saturday’s doubleheader, Bucko went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored to help lead YSU to a 15-10 victory. He followed that by going 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and a career-high five RBIs in YSU’s 14-9 win in the series finale.
#HLBASE Pitcher of the Week
Cristian Lopez | UIC | Senior | Right-Handed Pitcher | Santa Ana, Calif.
Lopez shined in a road start at Youngstown State, throwing a two-hit complete game shutout in UIC’s 6-0 win over the Penguins. Over the course of the seven-inning contest, Lopez surrendered a single in the first and second innings before dominating the rest of the way. The right hander struck out four, did not surrender a walk in the outing and allowed just a pair of base runners over the final five innings. Lopez finished in impressive fashion, retiring the final six batters in order to secure the win.
