Nike #HLGOLF Athletes of the Week (April 8)
INDIANAPOLIS – RMU’s Chris Sabol and UIC’s Brooke Beyer earned Nike® #HLGOLF Athlete of the Week honors this week. Sabol captured medalist honors at the Fairleigh Dickinson Invitational while Beyer broke multiple UIC records at the Golfweek Spring Invitational.

Coming off the first top-10 finish of his career two weeks ago, Chris Sabol became the fourth different Colonial in as many seasons to win a tournament as he captured medalist honors at the Fairleigh Dickinson Invitational. Sabol posted a pair of even-par 72s on the 6,972-yard Penn National Golf Club Founders Course, coming home a stroke ahead of teammate Chase Miller, Towson's Justin Griffith, and 18-hole leader Nick Piersall of Bryant. The Moon, Pa. native lowered his 2021 stroke average to 73.0 with the performance after posting a 78.1 stroke average over seven rounds in his redshirt freshman campaign.
WOMEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK | BROOKE BEYER | UIC | SOPHOMORE | MESA, ARIZ.
Sophomore Brooke Beyer broke numerous UIC records at the Golfweek Spring Invitational, helping the Flames to a record second runner-up finish as a team while finishing in third place on the individual leaderboard. Beyer’s second round score of 69 set the new single round scoring record as well as the single round scoring record vs. par (-2). The native of Mesa, Arizona matched the program record for low 36-hole total (148) and set the new program record for 54-hole total (218) and 54-hole total vs. par (+5). Beyer’s finish helped the Flames set three new team records, low team round, low 36-hole team total and low 54-hole team total.
