Horizon League Announces 2020 #HLWSOC All-Conference Awards

INDIANAPOLIS – Northern Kentucky’s Kailey Ivins was the 2020 Horizon League Women’s Soccer Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year while her teammate Mimi Stines collected Defensive Player of the Year and Goalkeeper of the Year honors, as voted by the League’s 12 head coaches. NKU’s Bob Sheehan was voted Coach of the Year while Cleveland State’s Kathryn Ramicone was named Freshman of the Year.
 
Senior forward Kailey Ivins returned the Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year awards to Northern Kentucky after Shawna Zaken collected both awards in the 2019 season. Ivins tallied nine points this season for the Norse, with four goals and one assist.
 
Junior goalkeeper Mimi Stines collected Northern Kentucky’s first ever Defensive Player of the Year and Goalkeeper of the Year awards for the Norse. The Loveland, Ohio native allowed only three goals this season. Stines finished the season with seven shutouts, with the last six being consecutive clean sheets.
 
Norse head coach Bob Sheehan picked up his first Coach of the Year honor after Northern Kentucky earned their first #HLWSOC regular season title with an overall record of 7-1-1 this season. The Norse will be the No. 1 seed in the Horizon League Women’s Soccer Championship for the first time since joining the HL in 2015.
 
Kathryn Ramicone tallied 14 points for Cleveland State this season with five goals and four assists. The freshman started in all 10 matches for the Vikings, helping here team reach an overall record of 6-4. Cleveland State’s final match was a 7-0 victory against Detroit Mercy, in which Ramicone scored one goal and had one assist.
 
The Horizon League Women’s Soccer Championship starts on Sunday, April 11, with semifinal competition as top seed Northern Kentucky welcomes No. 4 UIC and No. 2 Milwaukee hosts No. 3 IUPUI. The championship match will take place on Saturday, April 17 at the site of the highest-remaining seed.
